Schedlberg
At Schedlberg, modern concrete bars bridge a historic log structure with granite and wood. SB5IVE refined the finished surfaces so the contemporary intervention integrates seamlessly with the old fabric.

SCHEDLBERG Deep in the Bavarian forest, where you would least expect it, lies one of the most exciting buildings in all of Germany. The typical Bavarian log cabin was built in the 1820s and has been held up by the materials it is surrounded by for 200 years: granite and wood.
We were tasked with the cosmetic work on the already finished and renovated structures. Square concrete bars were integrated into the run-down building to first of all fix the broken spaces, but also as a bridge between the old wooden forest, the granite which was quarried on Schedlberg, and modern architecture. Concrete, when executed perfectly, can become the binding material between two worlds. So, our task was to work on the concrete so it becomes that triad together with granite and wood.
The work on site demanded a highly technical approach on the one hand, but a deep understanding of the clients' wishes and needs on the other. Exactly that is our unique way of operating. We are not only high-quality craftsmen, we understand the architecture, the thought behind the project.
Renovating the house on Schedlberg together with Peter Haimerl was a project that strengthened our pursuit of working hand in hand with the clients, builders and architects, so a smooth building period can be achieved and great projects such as this one can be created.
